Belize Heroes — well, Virginia Emergency Services Assistance Program for Belize (we’re working on changing that officially with the IRS) — is a “public charity” in the United States.
Which means your donations, gifts, gifts in kind, even volunteer work, can be written off, if you pay US taxes.
We’re far from tax experts but here’s a scan of the original letter from the Internal Revenue Service on our charity status as a 501(c)(3) organization.
